KISARAGI - Education Program for Young Dermatologists & Researchers

As an engagement program for future young dermatologists (KOL’s) in Japan, Galderma supports the Japanese Society of Investigative Dermatology (JSID) and the seminar named Kisaragi Juku «Young Academician-Fostering Seminar".

The JSID established this 3 days seminar to train promising, young doctors as dermatological researchers. It started in 2010 and has been running successfully ever since. "Kisaragi" is the Japanese word for February in the old lunar calendar, and so the seminar is held every February.

It is an education program for young dermatologists and an occasion for them to establish strong relationships with researchers, professors and senior dermatologists as well as learn more about dermatology.

Candidates for Kisaragi Juku must be under the age of 40 or shall have completed their undergraduate education no more than 10 years previously. Professors and chairmans at each university throughout Japan recommend young dermatologists to attend. A selection is then made and invited.

In 2010 a lecture was given by Johannes Voegel about translational medicine in dermatology at Galderma R&D.  In 2011 Itaru SUZUKI gave one on molecular dermatology and another in 2012 on the PPAR drug discovery project.

Over 110 young dermatologists, as well as 13 professors and associates have attended Kisaragi since 2010.
